MULTAN, Oct 23 (APP): Punjab Governor Malik Rafique Rajwana on Sunday said the incumbent government had successfully eliminated terrorism and put the country on path to progress and prosperity.
He said this while addressing a ceremony at Textile Engineering College, Bahauddin Zakariya University here.
The governor said a large number of projects, including the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), motorways and power projects were underway with a rapid pace.
The education,health and agriculture sectors had also made a remarkable improvement, he said and added jobs opportunities were being created in all fields.
“We believe in service of the masses and are making sincere efforts in this regard. The government has complete public trust and confidence,” he said.
The goverment was developing road infrastructure especially from agriculture field to market, the governor said.
The provision of safe drinking water was a top priority of the government, he added.
He said the government was working on establishment of an Information Technology University in the city, adding that a master plan to solve sewerage issues had also been devised. An Outdoor of the Kidney Centre started its function while indoor services would begin soon, he said. “We are also adding 600 beds in the Nishtar Hospital,” he added.
There was a need to promote technical education in the country. After completion of the CPEC, a good number of engineers and sub engineers would be required to reap the maximum benefits from the CPEC.
The governor said the Textile College would be upgraded as local region was famous for cotton production.
Bahauddin Zakariya University Vice Chancellor Dr Tahir Ameen said the BZU had been included in a list of top 900 universities of the world. “We are paying an immense focus on research,” he added.
Later, the governor also inaugurated a spinning lab and visited different departments of the college.
