PESHAWAR, Oct 16 (APP): International Mansoor guided PAF to a solitary goal victory against strong KRL team in the last quarter-final of the ongoing All-Pakistan Shama Challenge Football Cup being played at Sumbal Khan Football ground, Qayyum Sports Complex here.
Former Pakistan team skipper Zafar Iqbal was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the final the players of PAF and KRL were introduced to him. Director PAF Sports Control Board Committee Group Captain Asghar Awan, Flt. Lt. Inam Ullah, Organizing Secretary Basit Kamal, former Pakistan team skippers Qazi Asif and Gohar Zaman and large number of football enthusiasts were also present.
Both PAF and KRL teams exhibited good display of soccer with some fine moves were also witnessed in the 90-minuite battle. It was the first session in which both PAF and strong KRL team have some easy goal scoring chances but due to poor finishing none of the team could get any lead. The first-session was ended in a goal-less draw.
It was the second session in which PAF Muhammad Alam, Mansoor Khan, Amir Khan, Kabeer Khan, Irfan Ali and Muhammad Mujahid international played very attacking game by shattering rival defence time and again.
In the 18th minute PAF got a chance when Muhammad Alam saw his left foot kick went narrowly from the upper bar, followed by two quick attempt of Mansoor Khan, who also made first hat-trick of the tournament by scoring five goals against Punjab in the group match.
Mansoor’s two quick attemps were nicely intercepted by KRL goal-keeper Muhammad Boota while diving to his left. Muhammad Boota rescued very timely and saved two quick attempts of Mansoor very nicely.
After on slashing of PAF forwards, KRL front-line featuring Ahmad, Shahid, Zeeshan, skipper Zia and Adil played very excellent game by putting PAF defence under tremendous pressure but failed to score any goal. At half-time both PAF and KRL were locked a goalless draw.
It was the second session in which when PAF got position of the ball by making some good rallies of attack as a result this was Mansoor, the center striker, who slammed in a beautiful goal on the field attempt.
Mansoor got the ball from his mid-fielder Arbab Basit and zoomed quickly toward the rival goal-post. Mansoor was at distance from the goal-post kicked into the goal-post leaving KRL goal-keeper Boota guessing. It was so forceful kick that gave no chance to Boota to stop.
After conceding a goal, KRL kept up pressure but failed to level the tally and thus PAF won the match by reaching the semi-finals. Amin Ullah supervised the match while Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah and Alliuddin acted as deputy referees and Qazi Asif acted as match commissioner.
