ISLAMABAD, Oct 7 (APP): Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) Friday congratulated all women of the country on the passage of Anti-Honor Killing Law (Criminal Laws Amendment) Bill, 2015 and The Anti-Rape Laws (Criminal Laws Amendment).
WPC appreciated the relentless efforts of Member National Assembly/Secretary WPC Shaista Pervaiz Malik, for spearheading the process of passing these bills.
Being the mover of Anti-Rape Bill Shaista Pervaiz Malik not only tabled the legislation but she was the main force behind it in passage of this extremely significant piece of legislation, said a news release issued here.
The two bills had earlier been deferred in the joint sitting of the two houses of the Parliament on account of certain reservations of some political parties.
WPC took full credit of this legislation and congratulated all women legislators and policy maker for passing this long awaited legislation.
WPC also extended special gratitude to Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq for extending his complete support to WPC in all its endeavors.
After the passage of these critical pieces of Laws, implementation and follow up shall be the next focus of WPC.
Members of Caucus assured of their commitment towards the protection of women in the country in every possible way.
