ISLAMABAD, Oct 5 (APP): Minister for Kashmir Affairs and
Gilgit Baltistan Chaudhry Muhammad Barjees Tahir
Wednesday hailed Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s stance on the issue of Kashmir.

In his reaction to the Prime Minister’s address
to the joint sitting of the Parliament, he told APP that
at all international forums, Pakistan was already exposing the
Indian armed forces atrocities in Occupied Kashmir. The
Prime Minister highlighted the Kashmiris right to self determination.

He said Pakistan had a clear stance that without the
resolution of Kashmir issue, sustainable peace was
not possible in the region.

Barjees said the recent attack on Indian army headquarters in Uri was an Indian plot to divert the world attention from its state terrorism in the occupied valley.

Pakistan would continue to extend moral, political and
diplomatic support to the Kashmiris, he said.

The minister said the situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir
had deteriorated due to India’s cruel and barbaric acts, and
abuse of human rights.

The occupation forces had been massacring innocent
Kashmiris, he added.

Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Marvi Memon also appreciated the stance adopted by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the issue of Kashmir.

She said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has always attached
great importance to Kashmir.

“His superb advocacy of Kashmir case at United Nations
General Assembly session last month revived the Kashmir issue,” she said.

She said Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of India Pakistan partition and must be resolved according to UN resolutions to establish lasting peace and stability in the region.

The curfew and use of draconian laws against Kashmiris in
Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir is clear violation of all
international human rights conventions.

Pakistan stands with Kashmiri brethren and assures them of
full moral and political support.

Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N) Sindh leader Nehal
Hashmi said the Prime Minister forcefully reaffirmed Pakistan’s political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris’ right to self determination.

Commenting on the Prime Minister’s address to the joint
sitting of Parliament, he said that resolution of Kashmir issue
is vital for sustainable peace in the region, and India’s atrocities in the occupied Kashmir cannot suppress the
struggle of Kashmiris for independence.

Nehal Hashmi also hailed the Prime Minister for making it
clear to India that Pakistan is a peace loving country,
but it would respond forcefully against any threat to its sovereignty.

Member National Assembly Maiza Hameed said Pakistan
Tehreek i Insaaf’s boycott of joint session of the Parliament has not conveyed a good message to the nation.

Commenting on the speech of Prime Minister, she said all
the political parties and opposition were on the same page today except PTI.

“Whenever there is such occasion when the political
parties, opposition and the government representatives are
required to express unity, Imran Khan backs away,” she said.

Imran Khan just talks about Kashmir issue but when
the time comes to support the Kashmiris, he stays out of
the Parliament like today, she added.

She said , “No Prime Minister during the previous governments could raise the issue of Kashmir at
United Nations in the way democratic Prime Minister Nawaz
Sharif did.”

The PM address at UN was followed by All Parties Conference and today’s joint session of the Parliament which reflects the present government’s level of seriousness towards resolving the longstanding issue of Kashmir, she noted.

Maiza reiterated the government’s firm resolve for resolving Kashmir issue and said, “We will not step back on Kashmir cause.”
