ISLAMABAD, Aug 4 (APP): Minister for Human Rights Kamran
Michael said Thursday the government was committed to ensure human rights of its citizens as envisaged under the Constitution as well as international commitments.
Speaking during question-hour, the minister said all possible
measures were being adopted to ensure protection and promotion of such rights including rights of women, children, persons with disabilities and minorities, etc.
He said the review and revision of the existing law on honour
killing was the priority of the government, adding the
ministry regularly takes up all human rights violation cases with the concerned authorities for their redressal.
He said the recent cases of violence against women including
burning of Maria Sadaqat in Murree, Ambreen at Abbottabad and Nazia Waheed at Kasur had also been taken up with the quarters concerned for immediate necessary action as per law.
