ISLAMABAD, Jul 20 (APP): Black Day on Wednesday was observed across the country to express solidarity with Kashmiri brethren and protest grave human rights violations by Indian forces in Occupied Kashmir.
The Federal government had directed ministries, divisions and provincial governments to observe the Day and express solidarity with Kashmiris.
Rallies and functions were arranged all over the country, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and in Occupied Valley to draw attention of world community towards burning issue of Kashmir.
All officials of federal and provincial governments including
Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) put on black armband during routine official work to denounce Indian atrocities in occupied Kashmir and express solidarity with Kashmiri brethren.
Special prayers were also held after Zohar prayers for martyrs of Kashmir.
Pakistani missions abroad sensitized local media as well as various caucuses in different regions on Kashmir issue.
In big cities banners were displayed at conspicuous places inscribing slogans in favour of the Kashmiris freedom struggle.
These include ‘dawn with Indian occupation’, ‘stop atrocities
against Kashmiris’, ‘grant right of self-determination to Kashmiris’ and ‘international community should take notice of human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir’.
A large number of political, social, academic and
non-governmental organizations observed this Day to highlight the plight of Kashmiri people in Occupied Kashmir.
In a message, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq
urged international community to play role in stopping Indian
atrocities against innocent Kashmiris in occupied valley.
The speaker asked international community to play its due
role in resolving the issue of Kashmir as per commitments of India.
In Federal Capital, participants at a seminar entitled `Indian oppression in Kashmir and its social impacts’ was arranged by National Council of Social Welfare and attended by a number of Hurriyet Leaders and other officials.
They condemned human rights violation in Kashmir and demanded implementation of the United Nations resolutions on Kashmir to decide fate of Kashmir under the supervision of international body without any further delay.
Chief of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jamaatud Dawa, Hafiz Muhammad Saeed and Liaquat Baloch led a rally that started from Masjid-e-Shuhada on the Mall Road, Lahore and reached Islamabad. Abdullah Gul, son of former Inter-Services Intelligence Chief Hamid Gul, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Sirajul Haq, members of Muslim League-Zia, Izazul Haq were among those rallying.
The participants of rally in support of Kashmiris against Indian brutality, called Kashmir Caravan were holding hundreds of flags and chanting slogans for the rights of Kashmiri brothers.
The speakers demanded United Nations to resolve the Kashmir issue as per aspirations of Kashmiris and take practical steps to stop Indian brutalities.
