Govt taking result-oriented measures to provide basic amenities to people: Saira Afzal

HAFIZABAD, June 6 (APP): State Minster for National
Health Services Regulation and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar
on Monday said the government was taking result-oriented
measures to eliminate terrorism, extremism, poverty,
unemployment, inflation, illiteracy from the country, and
provide basic amenities of life to the people at their
doorsteps according to the manifesto of Pakistan Muslim
League-N.

Addressing a gathering, she said that Finance Minister
had presented farmers and poor friendly budget. She said the
government had increased the BISP funds from the existing 102
billion rupees to 115 billion rupees while funds for Baitul
Mal had been doubled.

She said that significant reduction in prices of fertilizers, reduction of electricity tariff for agriculture tube wells and withdrawal of 7% duty on pesticides and reduction of duty on livestock, dairy and poultry sectors were farmer friendly steps which would be helpful not only to
enhance per acre yield, increase in meat and milk production
but also to improve socio-economic condition of farmers.

She said that 25 billion rupees had been allocated in the
Budget for various health programmes including immunization,
family planning, Prime Minister’s National Health Insurance
and the proposed Cancer Hospital in Islamabad which was
reflecting commitment of the government to eradicate fatal
diseases from the country.

She said that result-oriented measures were also proposed
in the budget for the youth including laptop scheme and
provision of educational scholarships.
She also listened to people’s problems patiently and
assured that all electoral promises would be fulfilled
shortly.

Meanwhile, she along with DCO Muhammad Ahmad Rajwana and
other officers visited Ramazan Bazar on Alipur Road here and
expressed her satisfaction over the arrangements made for the
provision of cheap and quality commodoties to the fasting
people.

She said the government was providing billion of rupees
subsidy for ensuring provision of cheap and quality flour,
sugar, fruits and vegetables in the Ramazan bazaars.

She, however, warned that negligence in the provision of
cheap and standard daily items in Ramazan bazaars would not be
tolerated and negligent officials would be taken to task.
