42nd convocation of FAST-National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences

KARACHI, Nov 2 (APP): The 42nd Convocation of FAST-National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences was held at its main campus of the University, says an announcement here on Monday.
It said that the total number of recipients for the degrees of Bachelor was 324 and for Masters was 43 while one was conferred Ph.D.
The bachelor’s degrees were awarded in three disciplines i.e. Business Administration, Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. Masters degrees were awarded in Computer Science, Management Science and Software Project Management and PhD was awarded in the Computer Science.
Sindh Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. Sikandar Ali Mandhro, was the chief guest at the convocation. The other dignitaries who attended the ceremony were Rana Ghulam Shabbir, Secretary General FAST-NU and members of Board of Governors and Board of Trustees FAST-NU which include Senator Nisar A. Memon, Justice (Retd) Syed Ali Aslam Jafri, Dr. Abdul Wahab and Qaiser Ahmed Shaikh.
In his address Dr. Sikandar Ali Mandhro congratulated graduates on achieving the landmark of their life and the parents of the graduates on this memorable event of their lives.
He said that the current era is characterized by technological advancement and innovation like never before. Most noteworthy fact that remains is that this technological brilliance presents effective ways that can foster a country’s economic and social development to unimaginable degrees.
The Minister assured that the encroached 6 acres land opposite to the campus will be handed over to the University.
He said that it will be no exaggeration to claim that the technological progress of a country is directly proportional to its economic growth and development. To join the race of progress, the nation will have to work to build and introduce technologies that lead to more efficient and productive economic growth.
In such a scenario, it becomes mandatory for the education sector of the country to produce work force equipped with knowledge, skills, and abilities to not only utilize the most modern technology for increased economic production, but also envision and invent the technology required for speedy progress in this the world, he said adding that the rapidly improving and advancing technology has posed a major challenge for the developing nations to compete with the rest of the world. When it comes to business management, infrastructure development, and efficient administration of institutions, the information technology industry occupies an integral position.
Dean and Director of the campus, Dr. Zubair A. Shaikh, highlighted that we have been making concerted efforts in educating the youth in the areas of Computer Science, Engineering and Management Sciences. We are open to expansion in terms of Degree programs in new and emerging areas. Recently Karachi Campus has been allowed to initiate BS degree program in Mechanical Engineering for the new academic year 2016.
A corresponding expansion is also taking place continuously in the existing facilities as the number of enrollments increase. Our efforts are targeted at improving and maintaining the high standards that we are reputed for and our faculty endeavors to achieve this objective as their goal, he added. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to the position holders.
