ISLAMABAD, Jun 1 (APP): Secretary General of the
Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani, called on Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz here at Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday.
The Secretary General was on a visit to Pakistan to
attend 15th Session of General Assembly of COMSTECH, OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological
Cooperation, a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here on Wednesday said.
In the meeting, a range of issues were discussed
including Pakistan’s contribution, as `COMSTECH host’, in
promoting cooperation in Science and Technology in Muslim
countries, condition of Muslim communities in non-OIC
countries and regional and global political issues.
The Adviser emphasized on Pakistan’s role as a leading
Muslim country in the area of science and technology and
emphasized on the development of education, research, science and technology in the Muslim World.
He assured the Secretary General of Pakistan’s readiness
and full cooperation in assisting COMSTECH in the preparations for the First OIC Summit on Science and Technology.
The Secretary General expressed appreciation for
Pakistan’s active and constructive contribution towards the
OIC.
He appreciated the efforts undertaken by Pakistan for
the development of science and technology in the Muslim world by hosting COMSTECH.
Mr Madani also expressed concern on the situation of
Muslim minorities in non-OIC countries. He thanked the
Government of Pakistan on successful organization of the 15th Session of General Assembly of COMSTECH.
