KARACHI, May 30 (APP): A Chinese engineer and his driver were injured in bomb blast on Monday morning at the National Highway outside Pakistan Steel Town.
The blast occurred during morning rush hours at around 9 30 am.
The injured were taken to nearby Pakistan Steel Mills’ hospital and were discharged after providing them first aid treatment, said a PSM official at the hospital.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Malir district, Rao Anwar told APP that the bomb was dumped into the island between the National Highway at the outerside of Quaid e Azam Park, Pakistan Steel Town. It
was exploded with a remote controlled device, when the van carrying Chinese engineer from Gulshan e Hadeed, passed by. As the result, the van was partly damaged, and Chinese engineer and his driver received minor injuries.
The Chinese engineer along with his driver and a gunman had left his residence in Gulshan e Hadeed, phase I for his workplace (power plants) at Port Qasim.
The SSP Malir said the Steel Town police quickly rushed to the crime scene and managed the situation.
The case was registered against unknown criminals at Pakistan Steel Town police station and the investigation was in progress, he said.
A police official said the police also sieged and searched the
surrounding localities and took some suspected men into custody for investigation.
