Sarwar reconciles feuding Sikh, Muslim families
LAHORE, Sep 03 (APP):Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar Tuesday reconciled feuding Sikh and Muslim families after a Sikh girl, Jagjit Kaur had contracted marriage with a Muslim boy, Hassan, in Nankana Sahib last week.
According to press release issued here, Chaudhry Sarwar met both the families and asked boy’s father Muhammad Zulfiqar to address the grievance of the father of allegedly abducted Sikh girl Jagjit Kaur, Bhagwan Singh. The girl had converted to Islam and named Ayesha.
Wife of Punjab Governor Parveen Sarwar also met the girl at Dar ul Aman in Lahore.
Governor Punjab Ch Sarwar intervened after the Sikh community protested and the tensions arose in the peaceful city of Nankana Sahib.
