UNESCO held conference on safety of journalists, freedom of expression

ISLAMABAD, Jul 22 (APP):United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Monday held a round table consultation conference here under its multi donor program on freedom of expression and safety of journalists in collaboration with National Commission for Human Right (NCHR), Parliamentarian Commission for Human Rights and Peace and Justice Network.

As a leading agency to support the implementation of United Nation Action Plan (UNAP), UNESCO held this consultation to support the ideas of UNAP that proposed awareness raising, engaging media and building academia along with state institutions and political leadership to work for implantation of its agenda for the improvement in human rights issues.

The ambassador of Sweden in Pakistan Ingrid Johanson, Human Rights Officer Christine Chung from OHCHR, Chaudry Muhammad Shafique representing the National Commission for Human Rights (NCHR) and officials from the government participated in the consultation.
