Defence minister condemns attack on Pak Army check post in North Waziristan

ISLAMABAD, May 27 (APP):Minister for Defence Pervaiz Khattak on Monday condemned the attack on a Pakistan Army check post in North Waziristan by a group, the other day.
In a statement issued here, the minister said the soldiers at the check post exercised maximum restraint and first tried to disperse the group peacefully but then fired in the air in response of direct firing at the post.
But when five soldiers got injured due to direct firing at the post, they fired in self defence, which caused some killings in the crowd.
This is a sad incident which should not have occurred. Unfortunately, two members of the National Assembly were leading this act, the minister said.
Khattak said the people of Pakistan, especially its tribal people and armed forces, had established peace in the country after a lot of sacrifices.
During the operations, our tribal brothers had faced a lot of difficulties and both the prime minister and Army chief had stated that they understood the difficulties being faced by the people, especially in the tribal areas.
He said the government would continue working till the time of their complete social restoration.
All their legitimate demands were being fulfilled in accordance with the constitution and law, he added.
He said no individual or group would be allowed to do politics or get involved in unlawful activities on the name of problems and difficulties of the tribal people.
