Opposition free to protest: Governor Punjab

LAHORE, May 23 (APP):Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar Thursday said that the opposition was free to protest but people had rejected them and supported Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Talking to the media men at an Iftar-dinner here, he said the opposition parties had got together to protect their own vested interests and their protest call had nothing to do with the public welfare.
The Iftar-dinner was arranged by PTI Members Farzana Rauf, Abdul Rauf and Awais Rauf which was attended by Provincial Ministers Syed Sumsam Bukhari, Sabtain Khan, Ajmal Cheema, Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmad, Jahanzeb Khan Khichi, Sami Ullah Chaudhry and senior PTI leadership.
To a question, the Governor Punjab said dishonest politicians had no future in “Naya Pakistan” and people were well aware of the fraud and deception committed by the opposition parties in the past.
About Saudi Arabia, he said Saudi Arabia was an all-weather friend of Pakistan and the brotherly country had always helped Pakistan in difficult times, adding Pakistan gave great importance to its relations with Saudia.
About India, Governor Punjab said the meeting between Pakistani and Indian Foreign ministers at SCO gathering was good for both countries, adding, negotiations were the only solution of all problems between the two countries.
Speaking on the occasion, Provincial Minister for Information Syed Sumsam Bukhari said the PTI government was representative of the national aspirations of the people of Pakistan, adding, “The nation stands united beside their captain Imran Khan in his struggle for ‘Naya Pakistan’ and the agitation threats of opposition parties will not deter us from accomplishing our mission.” He said the masses had rejected the opposition in polls and would reject them in future too.
Woman Member of PTI Farzana Rauf said that it was very unfortunate that the previous governments looted this country with both hands because of which the country was passing through severe economic crises.
Earlier, Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar visited the residence of former MPA Ajasim Shareef and condoled the sad demise of latter’s father. He offered Fateha for the departed soul on the occasion.
In his interaction with the media at Ajasim Shareef’s residence, the Governor Punjab said that opposition was creating obstacles to stop accountability drive, adding the sole purpose of their agitation was to save themselves from the NAB.
He further said the opposition was not sincere to the country and did not spare any chance to loot and plunder the wealth of this nation, assuring the people the corrupt would not succeed in their objectives under the PTI rule.
Sarwar said the PTI government, under the leadership of Imran Khan, would complete its constitutional tenure of five years.
