Opposition join hands to create instability in Pakistan: Firdous

ISLAMABAD, May 20 (APP):Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan Monday said the opposition parties had joined hands for their animosity towards Prime Minister Imran Khan and to create instability in the country for gaining political objectives.
Talking to media persons here at an event organized by overseas Pakistanis to raise funds for the construction of dams, she said the Iftar dinner of the opposition was akin to creating an anti-Pakistan nexus.
According to basic philosophy and principles of Islam, an Iftar dinner was a kind of piety and was a time to get blessings of Allah Almighty and take care of the rights of people, she added.
Dr Firdous said the opposition parties did not come together at the Iftar dinner to pray to Allah rather they gathered in animosity towards Imran Khan and to devise a strategy to bring instability in the country. The opposition leaders in fact used the Iftar dinner to show their hostility and envy against Imran Khan, she added.
She said Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who claimed to be a religious scholar, mixed religion and politics, and acted in a hostile way. Maulana, who could not make it to the assembly for the first time since 1988, was not concerned about national interests or the people of Pakistan but being out of government was an issue for him, she added.
Referring to Maryam Nawaz, she said a convicted woman chaired a meeting in the Parliament House. Those, who were talking about the supremacy of parliament, had called a meeting at the Parliament House so that the convicted woman could come to its corridors, and that act was blatant mocking of courts, she added.
Maryam, she said, had put forth the slogan of “respect to vote”. It was amazing that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) was not clear about its narratives which had changed with the passage of time. That act showed that the PML-N leaders could go to any extent to achieve their political objectives and to weaken the country.
Shehbaz Sharif with his narrative was sitting abroad while his brother with his narrative was in prison, she added.
The special assistant said the PML-N’s narrative was “respect to note (money)” and not “respect to vote”. “The existence of note (money) with them is in danger as NAB is tightening the noose around the fake bank account holders. Fake bank accounts show that they (opposition) only care about ‘respect to note’.”
Imran Khan, she said, was elected as prime minister with the vote of people but the PML-N was not giving respect to the prime minister.
She said former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had given some suggestions while speaking outside the Parliament House. The government, however, would implement those suggestions in consultation with others in order to take the country forward by reducing difficulties of the people and overcoming the challenges.
She said the overseas Pakistanis were striving to help overcome water scarcity in the country. The core issue of Pakistan was of water stress and constraint.
She appreciated the overseas Pakistanis for projecting the true image of Pakistan. They were close to the heart of Imran Khan, who always considered them as a source of strength, she added.
Dr Firdous said, “We have to get rid of the rotten 70 year old system in Pakistan by ending the status quo.” She expressed the hope that the resolve and commitment shown by Imran Khan for building of new dams would become a reality.
