Foreign investors being encouraged in petroleum sector: Omar

ISLAMABAD, May 8 (APP):Minister for Petroleum Omar Ayub Khan Wednesday said the government was extending maximum facilities and encouraging foreign companies to invest in petroleum sector of Pakistan.
“Pakistan has open policy in petroleum sector,” he expressed these views during a meeting with Country Manager of Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company Ali Taha Al-Tamimi here.
The Kuwaiti company is operating for last 30 years in different exploration blocks of Pakistan and it had so far made around $ 2.5 billion investment in Pakistan.
During the meeting, the country manager showed keen interest in different offshore blocks for oil and gas exploration.
The minister said Pakistan had great potential in offshore oil and gas exploration sector and assured that the government would provide all possible cooperation to interested companies in the sector.
Meanwhile, a delegation of Schlumberger Petroleum, a multinational company which operating in more than 85 countries, called on Minister for Petroleum Omar Ayub Khan here.
The minister said government would take advantage of the company’s expertise in oil and gas exploration sector.
