ISLAMABAD, May 6 (APP):Managing Director Utility Stores Corporation (USC) Umer Lodhi Monday committed to ensure availability of all daily use commodities at the USC outlets across the country during the holy month of Ramadan.
Briefing the media persons here at PID along with the Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, he said “We have Rs 6.7 billion available inventory at the USC and we are making our utmost efforts to ensure smooth supply of required stock at all the outlets.”
He added that during Ramadan people make extra purchases to avail more and more from subsidy, which had increased the sales by 10 percent and caused shortage of some products.
Owing to the increased demand some issues were reported about shortage of stocks but efforts were being made to address them on priority.
He said that USC was also operating in far-flung areas of the country where the delivery of stock was difficult and took some time but we are committed to ensure the smooth supply at every nook and cranny of the country to facilitate the masses at the grassroots level.
He informed that vigilance teams of Utility Stores Corporation were frequently visiting different outlets to ensure smooth operation. We are also in contact with all the zonal managers through video link conference to have updates about stocks.
He said that USC had also established complaint cells where anyone could register complaints and inquire about the latest situation of stock availability.
He said that the USC had outstanding dues towards the vendors and we have planned to clear all the dues within one or two months.
It was also briefed that under Ramadan package subsidy was being given from Rs 5 to Rs 50 on 19 daily use items including flour, ghee, cooking oil, pulses, baison, dates, rice, milk, drinks and spices.
