ISLAMABAD, Apr 17 (APP):National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage, Lok Virsa will hold a session on “Cultural Diplomacy here on April 18 to explore the conceptual construction, historical background and potential of cultural diplomacy in the context of Pakistan.
The session is part of fortnightly Muzakra series by Research Section of Lok Virsa, it is an interactive session in which audience can engage with the guest speakers during the question and answer session.
It is regular part of Lok Virsa’s activities to preserve and promote the various forms of heritage in the country and highlight the magnificent cultural legacy of Pakistan.
During the session, cultural experts will speak on the conceptual
construction, historical background and potential of cultural
diplomacy in Pakistan.
At the same time world’s best practices with a practical futuristic roadmap would also be deliberated upon through an interactive open session.
Dr Nadeem Omar Tarar and Farhat Asif are invited to speak on
the said topic. Tarar has a Post-Doctorate from Agha Khan Program
for Islamic Architecture.
He has more than 25 years of accumulative experience of research, documentation, training and management which includes 15 years of working and heading the departments at NCA Lahore, and the 5 years of educational administration of NCA’s second campus, as Director, NCA Rawalpindi.
Dr Tarar is an international author, having 17 publications to his
credit, on the subject of art, culture, heritage and education of
Pakistan. He has taught and lectured in all the leading universities in Pakistan, and abroad, including JNU, India, SOAS, UK and MIT, USA.
Farhat Asif is heading the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic
Studies, Islamabad. She promotes peace and women’s rights through
education. Aside from academic research and training, Asif focuses on playing a leading role in developing a multi-sectoral approach. Through her efforts, she established Center for Women Peace and Leadership Pakistan.
She is projecting Pakistan’s peaceful image through premier opinion based publication. She is also the winner N-Peace Award 2017 in the category of “Campaign for Action”.
Lok Virsa with its mandate is focusing on the promotion of folk heritage of Pakistan in a way that is relevant to people of all ages and backgrounds and to provide more meaning, depth and rootedness in life.
The promotion of folk heritage will also create more space for expressing diversity within the culture, asserting cultural autonomy and dignity, said the organizers.
