ISLAMABAD, Apr 4 (APP):Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain Thursday said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)’s protest would not save their leaders, including Asif Ali Zardari from the process of accountability.

Talking to a private news channel, he said that Bhutto’s ideological and true followers were reluctant to support the corrupt elements.

If the founder of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was alive today, he would have announced protest against Asif Ali Zardari and its corrupt companions, the minister stated.

He suggested the leadership of PPP to launch a protest campaign against their own corrupt elements found involved in corrupt practices like money laundering, besides plundering the national exchequer.

He was of the view, if the PPP had respects for judiciary then it should avoid launching the protest against the state.
Such tactics could not helpful them in avoiding the accountability cases, he said.

Fawad made it clear that any threat or negative propaganda could not safe them from going behind the bars.
If the PPP leaders would take to the streets then nation would hold them responsible and accountable for their misdeeds, he said.
The recent Bilawal Bhutto’s slogan “Save the Daddy” had already failed, he added.

He said, if PPP wanted to come to Islamabad then the government would welcome them. They would also be provided a container.

In the current scenario when the corrupt elements and politicians had been badly exposed before the nation, he said people’ did not have any interest to participate such protests, rather they were interested in the uplift of the country, he added.

The minister said that both the leaderships of PPP and PML-N, had made their parties “hostage”.

The Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) government had been running the affairs of the state successfully, he said adding that the party due to its popularity among the people did not see any danger from such tactics.

Fawad said that PPP and PML-N leadership should change their narratives in the larger interest of the country.

To a question, Fawad Hussain said the present government did not desire to change the 8th amendment, but it felt there was need to bring changes in some clauses, he said.
