ISLAMABAD, April 4 (APP):Ministry of Law and Justice is committed to ameliorate lives of people and ensure the provision of justice to the common man.

The federal minister for Law and Justice Dr Barrister Muhammad Farogh Naseem said this during his meeting with the Head of Justice Project, Pakistan Sara Bilal here on Thursday.

Sara Bilal apprised the Law Minister about certain structural issues related to filing of the mercy petitions in Pakistan that result in petitions being refused on technical grounds.

She suggested the ways in which the death row prisoners may be helped by the system to file mercy petitions with relevant required information.

She further informed the minister regarding ways to restrict death penalty to only ‘violent crimes that result in intentional killings’. Implementation of International Laws and treaties was also discussed during the meeting.

Dr Farogh Naseem commended Sara Bilal on her work. Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice Maleeka Bukhari was also present during the meeting.
