PM directs CDA to ensure availability of required facilities for persons with disabilities

ISLAMABAD, April 3 (APP):Prime Minister Imran Khan Wednesday directed Capital Development Authority (CDA) to ensure availability of required facilities for people with special needs. 

“In order to ensure safe and easy access to persons with disabilities, the Prime Minister has desired that CDA shall take immediate measures to make all public places/buildings in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) as disabled friendly through provision of necessary infrastructure including ramps, lifts, toilets etc,” a letter of the Prime Minister’s Office said.

In the letter, it has also been desired that in future all new public places/buildings in ICT shall be designed and constructed in a manner to address the special needs of the persons with disabilities.

The CDA, through its buildings, shall be also ensured provision of the same facilities in private buildings within its jurisdiction. 
The CDA shall take further action in the matter on priority and also keep the Prime Minister’s Office informed of its progress on monthly basis, the letter said.
