LAHORE, Apr 02 (APP):The Sports Board Punjab (SBP) organised an awareness walk for 72nd Punjab Games 2019 under the leadership of Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar, here on Tuesday.
Ambassador of 72nd Punjab Games, former Pakistan hockey captain and Olympian Rehan Butt, Director Admin Javed Chohan, Director Sports Hafeez Bhatti, Secretary, Punjab Olympic Association Idris Haider Khawaja, Deputy Director Shahid Nizami, Assistant Director Zahoor Ahmed, Chief Consultant SBP Shahid Faqeer Virk and secretaries of Punjab sports associations took part in the awareness walk.
Nadeem Sarwar, speaking on the occasion, said the revival of Punjab Games after eight years is definitely a major development in the history of province. “The grand Punjab Games will prove to be a turning point in the sporting history of the province and beginning of a bright sports era”,he said.
Answering a question, DG Sports Punjab said: “It’s a big honour for me to revive the Punjab Games after such a long time. All the arrangements of the Games have been completed and we are quite upbeat to see exciting competitions during the 4-day sports extravaganza.”
Ambassador of the Games Rehan Butt, on this occasion, lauded the role of DG Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar for organizing Punjab Games at such a wide scale. “Punjab Games will provide the talented male and female players of the province a big platform to express their talent”,he said.
Hundreds of sports persons, women, and people from different walks of life also participated actively in the awareness walk that began from National Hockey Stadium and concluded at the same point after taking a round from Liberty roundabout.
It is pertinent to mention here that 72nd edition of Punjab Games are being organized by Sports Board Punjab (SBP) with the collaboration of Punjab Olympic Association at various venues in city from April 3-6.
