Saudi doctors appreciate role of Punjab Emergency Service

LAHORE, Mar 27 (APP):A team of doctors from Saudi Arabia on Wednesday visited the Rescue Headquarters and Emergency Services Academy.
The delegation is visiting here to attend the National Emergency Medicine Conference being held at King Edward Medical University, Lahore in order to improve patient care by developing Emergency medicine specialty.
The delegation comprises four-members led by Dr Nargas Daliri Chairman International organizing and scientific committee consultant Pedatric Emergency Medicine from Riyadh, Dr Farouq Member (IO&SCCPEM), Dr Talal al Kindy Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon from Jeddah, and Dr Sami Al-Kindy Senior Consultant Head and Neck Surgeon Taif University, KSA.
Director General Punjab Service, Dr. Rizwan Naseer welcomed the Suadi delegates and stressed upon the need to establish and strengthen the emergency medical specialty in Emergency Departments of Hospitals.
While briefing the Saudi delegates he explained that once upon a time when there were no pre-hospital emergency system services in the Pakistan and there were no trained emergency paramedics even in the emergency departments of teaching hospitals.
Today, by the Grace of Almighty Allah, we have established the integrated model of Emergency Ambulance, Fire and Rescue Services in Pakistan. Based on the successful evaluation results of this model Service in Lahore, Government of the Punjab expanded the Service to all districts of Punjab and its expansion at Tehsils level is underway.
Dr Rizwan Naseer also briefed the delegates that the Rescue 1122 has responded over 6.7 million emergencies in all 36 districts of Punjab while maintaining its average response time of 7 minutes.
He also expressed that Motorbike Ambulance Service has also been dealt over 2,64,000 emergencies in all 9 divisional headquarters of Punjab while maintaining an response time of average 4 minutes.
The delegates also closely observed the practical professional skills of rescuers and also reviewed the ongoing training at Emergency Services Academy in different fields of Emergency Management which including Response to Medical emergencies, Firefighting, Urban Search and Rescue, Rescue from height and Hazmat Incident etc.
The delegates also visited Provincial Monitoring Cell where they briefed about the working of Provincial Monitoring Cell, Patient Transfer Service mechanism, Motorbike Ambulance Service and Citizen Feedback System. The participants were also briefed about calls monitoring, operations, evaluation, feedback system, trauma registry mechanism, and other monitoring setup of the Service.
Dr Narges Daliri & other members of the delegation appreciated the role of Punjab Emergency Service regarding provision of emergency services to the citizens of the Pakistan.
They also expressed satisfaction over trainings facilities, equipment, practical sessions, academic environment and Ambulance Service College.
