Venues of Punjab Games announced

LAHORE, Mar 26 (APP):Sports Board Punjab (SBP) has released the list of venues of 72nd edition of Punjab Games being staged with the collaboration of Punjab Olympic Association (PbOA) here from April 3 to 6.
Director General Sports Punjab Nadeem Sarwar said on Tuesday all the venues are ready to host exciting competitions of Punjab Games. “We are quite confident that sports lovers will enjoy the thrilling Punjab Games events at various venues of the city,” he added.
Revealing the games venues he informed that boys and girls athletics competitions will be held at Punjab Stadium. “Special children will also compete in athletics and cycling events at the same venue. Punjab Stadium will also host boys’ pentathlon, bodybuilding and kabaddi events,” he said.
DG Sports Punjab further said that boys’ kick-boxing, weightlifting and boxing competitions are scheduled at boxing ring adjacent to Punjab Stadium. “Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall will be the venue of boys’ karate, volleyball, badminton and girls’ table tennis events. National Hockey Stadium and adjacent Mini Hockey Stadium will host boys’ hockey matches during Punjab Games,” he informed.
“Punjab Int’l Stadium, Punjab Archery Club, Cycling Velodrome and Punjab Int’l Swimming Complex at Nishtar Park Sports Complex will host boys’ tennis, archery, cycling and swimming events respectively during the 72nd Punjab Games,” he added.
Nadeem Sarwar said that Baseball Stadium Bahria Town will host boys’ baseball matches while Model Town Football Stadium will be the venue of boys’ football event. “Govt Islamia College Civil Lines has been chosen for boys’ gymnastics event whereas boys’ roller sports will be competed at PHA Sports Complex, Niazi Chowk,” he asserted.
About boys’ squash and wrestling events, he said: “Boys’ squash and wrestling events will be staged at Punjab Squash Complex, Davis Road and Punjab Group of Colleges Muslim Town respectively.”
DG Sports Punjab said that Govt Postgraduate College for Women Township will stage girls’ basketball, volleyball and handball competitions. “Girls’ taekwondo and wushu contests will be organized at PSB Coaching Centre,” he said.
