Pak embassy hosts semifinal of debate competition

ISLAMABAD, Mar 22 (APP):The semifinal of the debating competition on topic “Art will change society faster than politics” was hosted by the Embassy of Pakistan to France in Paris.
The debating competition semi was organized by the French Debating Association (FDA), said a news release issued here.
The event was attended by a large number of French University students, their parents and teachers.
Ambassador of Pakistan to France Moin ul Haque, who was chief guest on the occasion, appreciated the role of FDA for promoting a
healthy culture of debate on critical issues which also helps in fostering respect for each other’s point of view.
The ambassador said the motion of the debate was interesting as many times politics tend to affect the importance of art and culture in our societies.
He gave the example of Pakistan, which was a cradle of civilizations, has a rich history and diverse cultural heritage. However, these beautiful aspects of Pakistan were overshadowed by the geopolitics in our region.
A documentary was also shown on the occasion to show the beauty and diversity of Pakistan. FDA is a prestigious organization, holding debating competitions in English Language for the last 26 years.
This year’s final will be held at the French National Assembly on April 1. The Ambassador of Pakistan will be a member of the Jury.
