ISLAMABAD, Mar 05 (APP):The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet Tuesday directed the Ministry of Maritime Affairs to expedite work on completing all the formalities for setting up new LNG terminals at Port Qasim, keeping in view the growing energy needs of the country.
The ECC meeting, chaired by Finance Minister Asad Umar, was briefed by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs on matters relating to establishment of new LNG terminals at Port Qasim.
The Committee was informed that the Port Qasim Authority was looking at various choices with a view to find the most viable option for establishing the terminals.
Meanwhile, the ECC also approved proposal of Ministry of Energy based on request by Pakistan Petroleum Ltd for allocation of up to 9 mmcfd gas from Fazl X-1 field in district Matiari to Sui Southern Gas Company Limited ( SSGCL)
The Committee approved various proposals relating to Supplementary grants.
It may be recalled that such grants were previously approved by the Ministry of Finance, however in order to make the process more transparent, these were now considered and approved at the Cabinet level.
These included, technical supplementary grants of Rs. 768.8587 million for Ministry of Interior for construction and renovation of different facilities.
It also included supplementary grant requests for repair and replacement of CCTV cameras at IHC, Expenses on security vehicles in ICT area, E-passport project, Payment of electricity charges etc.
