ISLAMABAD, Mar 5 (APP):President Dr Arif Alvi Tuesday said though Pakistan never wanted confrontation yet the country would defend its sovereignty with steadfastness in case any war was imposed on it.
In an interview with a private television channel, the president said the Pakistan’s armed forces were the most experienced one in the world and they were all time alert to safeguard national frontiers.
He said Pakistan was very serious to maintain peace in the region as it had restrained and even returned the captured Indian pilot.
He viewed that India would not launch war against Pakistan and hoped that good sense would prevail.
He said Pakistan never initiated any confrontation rather the country retaliated to the Indian aggression and violation of its airspace. He said even the Pakistan Air Force also downed the Indian aircraft within its (Pakistan) territory.
He said the Pakistani nation felt proud of their armed forces as they defended the country against Indian aggression. He also lauded the high morale of the families of three army personnel martyred at the Line of Control.
To a question on the Israel and Indian nexus against Pakistan, the president said both the countries had been partners in perpetrating atrocities in the Indian occupied Kashmir.
He said it was pleasing that all of the political parties had showed unity during the joint sitting of the parliament summoned to discuss the prevailing situation.
Lauding the responsible role of Pakistani media, the president said India had been challenging its own so-called secular face.
He said the foreign investors were being lured to Pakistan owing to the incumbent government’s anti-corruption efforts, secure atmosphere for investment and consistency of policies.
Responding to a question, the president said the crackdown against some outfits was not consequent to anyone’s pressure rather Pakistan had acted in its own interest.
He said the Punjab minister’s statement regarding Hindus was unsuitable as Pakistan was against Hindutva, not Hindus.
Regarding the government’s economic policies, the president said the inflation rate was lower during the first six months of the PTI-led government than those of previous two governments.
