Anelka determined to uplift football in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Mar 05 (APP):Former French footballer Nicolas Anelka Tuesday said that he wanted to uplift football in Pakistan.
Talking to media here at a local hotel along with President Pakistan Football Federation Syed Ashfaq Hussain, he said he was on Pakistan visit to boost football.
“Having embraced Islam, I have a special connection with Pakistan. I have forged a special relationship with World Soccer Stars tour. I am confident of this tour being one of its kinds. I look forward to exciting my fans in Pakistan in April,” he said.
Anelka is the third footballer in line to visit Pakistan after legendary Luis Figo and Ricardo Kaka visited Pakistan for the promotion of the similar event. He has arrived Pakistan to promote the World Soccer Stars Event 2019.
A football tournament will be held in Karachi on April, 27 along with the Akon’s concert. A football match under the same banner will also be held in Lahore.
The initiative of organizing soccer matches in Pakistan has been taken by Touch Sky Group’s World Soccer Star 2019.
President PFF on the occasion said that effective measures were needed to improve standard of football in Pakistan. He said there was not dearth of talent in Pakistan adding that provision of opportunities to youngsters were needed.
He said the federation would work in collaboration with Touch Sky Group to promote football activities in Pakistan.
Later, Anelka visited the Centaurus Mall, Islamabad and interact with the public and met his fans and followers.
