ISLAMABAD, Feb 28 (APP):Pakistan on Thursday confirmed it was currently holding an “active diplomatic engagement” with friendly countries to help diffuse tension with India.

“Pakistan is actively involved with friends in international community and Muslim Ummah, amid high hopes of positive results. We welcome all mediatory efforts to give peace a chance,” Foreign Office Spokesman Mohammad Faisal said at a weekly press briefing here at the Foreign Affairs Ministry.

The Spokesman was responding to a question on the role of friendly countries in diffusing the tension.
Mohammad Faisal said Pakistan was not awaiting foreign help to diffuse ongoing tension with India.
“Pakistan does not look towards other countries for its defence, but its people and armed forces,” he said.
He said Pakistan had yet to decide if it would approach the United Nations Security Council over the India’s violation of Line of Control.
He reiterated that Pakistan would cooperate with India on investigation of Pulwama incident.
He confirmed that Pakistan had received the dossier from India on Thursday morning and said the document would be evaluated for any “actionable evidence.”
In response to a statement of Bharatia Janta Party leader B.S. Yeddyurappa who stated that escalation would help Indian prime minister Narendra Modi bag 22 seats in Karnataka, the Spokesman said it strengthened Pakistan’s consistent stance on India’s manipulation of situation for its elections.
On suspension of Samjhota Express train service with India, he said the measure was taken for security reasons and added that Pakistan would make all out efforts to repatriate the stranded citizens in India.
