Zartaj Gul inaugurates PHA Spring Plantation Campaign

RAWALPINDI, Feb 27 (APP):Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul Wednesday said no one can dare to cast an evil eye on Pakistan as it would foil nefarious designs of the enemy and defend territorial integrity of the country at any cost.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) Spring Plantation Campaign, she said the Pakistani nation is united under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Pakistan is ready to foil Indian designs and defend the territorial integrity.
She inaugurated the spring plantation campaign by planting a sapling at Public Park, Shamsabad. The campaign has been launched under clean and green Pakistan program.
Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi and PHA Director General Muhammad Ali Randhawa, PHA Chairman Asif Mahmood, Director Admin and Finance Bilal Rauf, Director Horticulture Sheikh Tariq, Deputy Director Masood Rashid, political and social personalities attended the function.
Muhammad Ali Randhawa said to encourage plantation and to turn the city into a green town, the authority has prepared a plantation ‘float’ which would move across the city highlighting the fruits, vegetables and flowers of the region and those which will be promoted during the spring plantation campaign.
He said the students, traders, social and political leaders and civil society members would also participate in the campaign.
The PHA would provide plants free of charge to the citizens during the spring plantation campaign. Maximum saplings will be planted in different areas of the city including Public Park Shamsabad, Arid Agriculture University, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Satellite Town College, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, Committee Chowk Graveyard, Adyala Jail, Police Line, Police Stations, Rescue-15, Shamsabad complex, IJP Road, Raja Bazar, College Road, DAV College Road and Rawalpindi Press Club.
The spring plantation campaign will continue for one month and the students and civil society members will plant saplings and seeds in different areas of the city and ensure their care as well, he said adding, they have started planting trees in the hilly areas around the city.
Efforts would also be made during the campaign to sensitize the people to come forward and participate in the plantation campaign, he said.
