ISLAMABAD, Nov 05 (APP):The United Nations Security Council has adopted by consensus a Presidential Statement (PRST) initiated by Pakistan on “The Role of Diplomacy during Active Hostilities,” Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (DPM/FM), Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar said on Thursday.
In a post on X, Dar said he was delighted by the adoption of the statement, which builds on the Council’s landmark resolution 2788 (2025). He said the initiative carries forward Pakistan’s sustained efforts and contributions during its Security Council term to advance the peaceful settlement of disputes.
“When hostilities intensify, diplomacy must not retreat,” Dar said, adding that it must become an even more powerful instrument for de-escalation, dialogue and peace.
The deputy prime minister said the statement reaffirms the conviction that the pursuit of peace must never cease, even in the darkest hours of conflict.
DPM Dar also said Pakistan remains steadfast in its commitment to advancing diplomacy “not merely through words, but through purposeful and concrete action” to foster dialogue and promote lasting peace.
