ATC acquits accused in hate material case

An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday acquitted a man accused of distributing hate material on behalf of a proscribed organisation, citing insufficient evidence against him.

LAHORE, Nov 04 (APP): An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday acquitted a man accused of distributing hate material on behalf of a proscribed organisation, citing insufficient evidence against him.
ATC Judge Manzer Ali Gill announced the verdict, observing that the prosecution had failed to establish the charges against the accused, Qudratullah. The court held that the evidence was insufficient and the case was riddled with doubts, entitling the accused to the benefit of the doubt.
Qudratullah appeared before the court to mark his attendance when the verdict was announced.
According to the prosecution, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), Sheikhupura, had registered a case against the accused in 2025, alleging that he was associated with a proscribed organisation and that hate material linked to the proscribed organisation had been recovered from his possession. He was also accused of collecting funds for terrorist activities.
