RAWALPINDI, Nov 04 (APP):Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir chaired a review meeting on Wednesday to assess the second-day performance of the ongoing anti-polio immunization drive and directed health officials to accelerate coverage of missed and hesitant cases.
The progress review meeting was attended by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the District Health Authority and other relevant administrative officers.
According to the official briefing, mobile health teams successfully vaccinated 575,924 children during the first two days of the campaign, achieving 58 percent of the total district target of 9,89,924 children. Administrative household coverage across the district was recorded at 91 percent.
Health officials reported that field surveillance identified 53,607 missed children during routine sweeps. Catch-up teams successfully covered 31,948 of these children, while specialized follow-up protocols remain active to vaccinate the remaining cohort.
DC Nasir instructed health teams to focus on persistent refusal cases, temporarily unavailable children, and hard-to-reach pockets using dedicated catch-up units. He stressed that inter-departmental coordination and rigorous supervisory oversight must be sustained to ensure zero missed children across all union councils.
