Barrister Danyal lays foundation stone for China Market-Gordon College Road corridor reconstruction

RAWALPINDI, Nov 04 (APP):Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for the comprehensive reconstruction and modernization of the China Market-Gordon College Road transit corridor under a Rs 138.318 million provincial development grant.
Executing under the urban uplift vision of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the project has been assigned to the specialized engineering divisions of the Communication and Works (C&W) Department for high-grade execution and fast-tracked completion.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony organized by the local trader community, Barrister Danyal affirmed that the project will dismantle multi-decade traffic bottlenecks, optimize micro logistics for the commercial hub and streamline daily commutes for students attending central educational institutions.
He emphasized that upgrading urban road networks remains central to the provincial government’s student-centric and economic development framework.
He further said that similar fast-tracked road rehabilitation projects are simultaneously progressing across Rawal Road, 5th Road and Railway Workshop Road.
The engineering design incorporates a rebuilt sub-base built to sustain heavy commercial traffic and public transit amounts, with integrated subsurface stormwater drainage channels to permanently prevent monsoon inundation across Liaquat Road, Naya Mohalla, and adjacent market zones.
The ceremony concluded with a ribbon-cutting walk through led by Barrister Danyal Chaudhry along with senior C&W engineers, business leaders and local residents.
