ISLAMABAD, Nov 03 (APP): Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Tuesday said the welfare, protection of rights and prompt resolution of issues faced by overseas Pakistanis were among his top priorities.
He expressed these views during a meeting with Chairman Board of Governors of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), Syed Qamar Raza Shah here.
The meeting discussed the welfare of overseas Pakistanis belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, measures to address their issues, and initiatives to create new opportunities in education and employment for the province’s youth.
The participants also deliberated on the establishment of special courts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for overseas Pakistanis, where expatriates would be able to participate in court proceedings through online video links. The proposed mechanism aims to ensure speedy and effective justice, with a target of deciding such cases within 90 days.
The meeting further considered a proposal to establish an international-standard university in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the collaboration of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation.
Governor Kundi directed the relevant authorities to expedite work on the proposals and take necessary measures for their early implementation.
The meeting also discussed equipping the province’s youth with market-oriented technical and vocational skills to enhance their employment prospects abroad. It stressed the need for joint initiatives with the OPF to provide training in line with international labour market requirements.
Governor Kundi said all available resources would be utilised to provide better education, skills and employment opportunities to the youth of the province, adding that institutional cooperation with the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation would be further strengthened.
