PM stresses timely completion, efficient management for Jinnah Medical Complex

ISLAMABAD, Nov 02 (APP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Monday, while terming the ongoing construction work on Jinnah Medical Complex as satisfactory, emphasized that targets must be achieved within the stipulated timeframe.
He also directed that all appointments in the facility should be made purely on merit and in a transparent manner.
The prime minister chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the progress on the under-construction Jinnah Medical Complex, a state-of-the-art healthcare facility being built to international standards, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.

Highlighting the scope of the project, the prime minister said the Jinnah Medical Complex would provide advanced medical treatment facilities to patients from Islamabad, across Pakistan—particularly Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
To ensure world-class healthcare delivery, he underlined engaging a private sector organization to manage the hospital.
Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Ahad Khan Cheema, Syed Mustafa Kamal, and Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, along with other senior officials, attended the meeting.
The prime minister also stressed that affordable, advanced diagnostic facilities must be made accessible to low- and middle-income groups, specifically calling for PET scans and other modern diagnostic tools to be integrated as a core component of the project.
During the briefing, the prime minister was informed that overall progress on the Jinnah Medical Research Centre (JMCRC-I) has reached 59 percent, with the structural work for the main hospital and parking plaza already completed.

The 403-bed facility is scheduled to become operational by March 23, 2027. Work is also underway on the installation and maintenance of medical equipment, the hospital’s digital management system, and other administrative arrangements.
The meeting was further briefed that competitive national bidding for Phase-II of the Jinnah Medical Research Centre in Sector H-11 has been initiated under a revised design, with construction expected to commence shortly. Procurement of modern diagnostic machinery and scanners for the project is also in progress.
