KP Food Authority discards thousands of kilos of substandard food in province-wide crackdown

PESHAWAR, Nov 01 (APP): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority on Sunday intensified its province-wide crackdown against unsafe food, destroying thousands of kilograms of adulterated meat, milk, and spices across multiple districts.
In Mardan and Takht Bhai, teams sealed illegal processing units and discarded 400 kilograms of unsafe minced meat, 1,000 kilograms of substandard dried onions, and 500 liters of adulterated milk.
A major raid on Ring Road in Peshawar exposed an illegal unit using hydrogen peroxide to treat 1,550 kilograms of insect-infested dried onions, leading to immediate confiscation and legal action.
Additional operations in Mansehra, Swat, Nowshera, and surrounding districts targeted entry checkpoints, restaurants, and snack factories, resulting in heavy fines and the destruction of hundreds of liters of unfit cooking oil, adulterated milk, and expired food items.
Reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy, the Director General, KP Food Authority, commended the teams and stated that indiscriminate enforcement will continue across province to safeguard public health.
