BAHAWALPUR, Nov 01 (APP):The Character Building Society of The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB), in collaboration with the Directorate of Student Affairs, organized a seminar and student debate on the theme “Pakistan’s Role in Promoting World Peace: Unity in Diversity and Responsible Citizenship”.
According to an official press release issued by the university, the event was held at Ghotvi Hall, Abbasia Campus, and was attended by prominent political and social figures, heads of educational institutions, members of the journalist community, faculty members and students.
The programme aimed to raise awareness among young people about Pakistan’s role in promoting global peace, the importance of unity in diversity and responsible citizenship, the challenges facing the Muslim Ummah, and the national and social responsibilities of the younger generation.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Muhammad Kamran emphasized that universities had a vital responsibility to nurture a generation equipped with knowledge, strong moral character, tolerance and a commitment to peace and justice.
He said Pakistan, guided by the universal principles of Islam, could make a meaningful contribution to global peace by promoting interfaith harmony, mutual respect, dialogue and international cooperation.
He further observed that unity in diversity was a source of national strength, while responsible citizenship required respect for the Constitution and the law, protection of the rights of others, rejection of intolerance and active participation in the country’s social and national development.
Urging students to play a constructive role in society, the vice chancellor encouraged them to become ambassadors of peace, uphold democratic values, respect differences of opinion and utilize their education and abilities to build a peaceful, inclusive and progressive society.
He also stressed the importance of projecting Pakistan’s positive image at the international level through responsible citizenship, tolerance and meaningful contributions towards global peace.
