ISLAMABAD, Oct 27 (APP):Federal Secretary for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Momin Agha on Tuesday visited the National Emergency Operations Centre (NEOC) and reviewed Pakistan’s poliovirus situation, epidemiological trends, progress in eradication efforts and key challenges.
The briefing was attended by Prime Minister’s Focal Person for Polio Eradication Ayesha Raza Farooq, NEOC Coordinator Muhammad Anwar ul Haq, the Joint Secretary (Immunization) and members of the NEOC Core Group.
During the briefing, the federal secretary stressed the need to sustain progress towards polio eradication, strengthen accountability and improve coordination among relevant sectors to ensure effective implementation of vaccination campaigns.
He also called for enhanced monitoring, timely corrective measures and focused efforts to address gaps in the eradication programme and interrupt poliovirus transmission.
Emphasizing the importance of routine immunisation, Momin Agha said protecting children against polio and other vaccine-preventable diseases required consistent vaccination coverage and strengthened healthcare services.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to making Pakistan polio-free, he urged all stakeholders to maintain close coordination, ensure collective accountability and reach every child with polio vaccination.
