ISLAMABAD, Oct 26 (APP):The Central Directorate of National Savings (CDNS) has mobilised Rs600 billion between July 1 and October 15, meeting its target for the period and setting the stage for an ambitious Rs1.53 trillion resource mobilisation goal for the current fiscal year.
The strong start to fiscal year 2026-27 reflects sustained demand for government-backed savings instruments, as the institution seeks to expand its investor base and strengthen domestic savings, according to official sources.
The annual target is part of the government’s broader efforts to channel household savings into formal investment avenues while providing citizens with accessible options for financial planning. CDNS is also pursuing measures to improve operational efficiency and broaden the reach of its savings products.
Expanding Shariah-compliant investment opportunities remains another key priority. The institution has been increasing its focus on Islamic financial products to attract investors seeking savings instruments that conform to Islamic principles.
For fiscal year 2025-26, CDNS had set a target of Rs60 billion for Islamic savings instruments, reflecting its efforts to strengthen its presence in the growing Islamic finance segment.
In fiscal year 2024-25, the institution had fixed an overall mobilisation target of Rs1.65 trillion, including Rs170 billion for Islamic finance investments, as part of its strategy to diversify investment options and encourage participation in formal savings schemes.
CDNS has maintained a strong mobilisation record in recent years. It exceeded its Rs1.7 trillion target in fiscal year 2023-24 by mobilising Rs1.742 trillion, while achieving its Rs1.6 trillion target in fiscal year 2022-23.
In fiscal year 2021-22, the institution initially set a mobilisation target of Rs1.3 trillion, which was subsequently revised upward to Rs1.4 trillion amid favourable market conditions and improved resource mobilisation.
Officials attributed the institution’s performance to institutional reforms, improved service delivery and measures aimed at making National Savings products more accessible to investors.
As CDNS moves towards its Rs1.53 trillion target for fiscal year 2026-27, expanding its investor base, diversifying savings instruments and improving digital services are expected to remain central to its strategy.
The latest capital figures highlight the institution’s role in promoting domestic savings and directing financial resources towards government-backed investment instruments.
