PCP introduces body cameras for pharmacy institute inspections

ISLAMABAD, Oct 15 (APP): The Pharmacy Council of Pakistan (PCP) has introduced body cameras during inspection visits to pharmacy institutes to enhance transparency, strengthen regulatory oversight and ensure compliance with prescribed standards for Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) programmes.
Under the special directives of the PCP president, a high-level panel conducted verification visits to Abasyn University and Iqra University’s Chak Shahzad campus to assess educational infrastructure and verify compliance with previously communicated deficiencies.
The inspection team was led by Dr. Tahir Chohan and included PCP Secretary Dr. Nauman Rahim Khan and a nominee of the District Health Officer (DHO).
The visits focused on evaluating institutional facilities, reviewing compliance with regulatory requirements and verifying whether shortcomings identified during earlier assessments had been addressed.
In a significant step towards improving accountability, the council deployed high-definition body cameras to record inspection proceedings in real time for the first time in its history.
According to the council, the initiative is intended to promote transparency, minimize subjective assessments and maintain a digital record of inspection activities to support consistent and evidence-based regulatory decisions.
The PCP emphasized that pharmacy institutes must meet the prescribed academic and infrastructure requirements to ensure the quality of professional education and safeguard public health.
The council reiterated its commitment to enforcing regulatory standards and taking appropriate action against institutions that fail to comply with applicable requirements.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen the quality of pharmacy education in Pakistan and ensure that graduates entering the profession receive training in institutions meeting the required standards.
