Tarar criticizes PTI leadership over KP security situation

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Wednesday criticized the PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for lack of commitment to counter-terrorism, saying that the provincial leadership had failed to demonstrate the maturity required to address the security challenges facing the province.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 14 (APP): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Wednesday criticized the PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for lack of commitment to counter-terrorism, saying that the provincial leadership had failed to demonstrate the maturity required to address the security challenges facing the province.
Talking to reporters outside the Parliament, Atta Tarar said PTI leaders who had participated in negotiations congratulated one another following their apparent outcome. However, he said, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi subsequently refused to commit to taking action against terrorism.
“On the one hand, people are being killed and attacks are taking place in Dera Ismail Khan, Hangu and Kohat, while terrorists are moving around freely. On the other hand, the chief minister is staging a sit-in and saying that he cannot commit to taking action against terrorists,” he said.
Describing the situation as regrettable, Atta Tarar endorsed the remarks of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on the issue and criticized the immaturity of the PTI’s provincial leadership.
He said that the provincial leadership appeared to have little concern for governance or the need to combat terrorism and ensure security in the province.
Atta Tarar added that a joint sitting of Parliament was scheduled for Thursday, when the matter of imposing governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be taken up.
