FIA offloads Russia-bound student over suspected fake educational certificates, registers case

ISLAMABAD, Oct 14 (APP):The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration offloaded a passenger travelling to Russia on a study visa at Islamabad International Airport after detecting suspected fake educational certificates and registered a case for further investigation.
An FIA official told on Wednesday that immigration officers examined the passenger’s matriculation certificate and Detailed Marks Certificate (DMC) during routine document checking.
He said the barcodes on the educational documents were checked, but no verification record was found from the Inter Boards Coordination Commission (IBCC) or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), raising suspicions about their authenticity.
During preliminary questioning, the passenger disclosed that the educational certificates had been provided to him, while his Russian study visa and air ticket were arranged through an agent.
The official said a case had been registered at the FIA Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad, while further investigation was underway to establish the authenticity of the documents and identify other persons who might be involved.
He said the operation was carried out under the supervision of Additional Director In-Charge Shift C Syed Kashif Ali, while FC Naeemullah and FC Hassan Nisar were also part of the immigration team.
Sub-Inspector Shazia Noreen has been assigned the investigation of the case.
