RAWALPINDI, Oct 12 (APP):The district administration of Rawalpindi has set a target to cultivate wheat across 416,000 acres of land during the 2026-27 Rabi season to boost agricultural output and ensure local food security.
The decision and action plan were finalized during a review meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Captain (retd) Tayyab Sami Khan at the DC Office on Monday.
Agriculture Department officials briefed the meeting that measures have been completed to ensure the timely availability of certified seeds, along with strict price and quality monitoring of fertilizers including Urea and DAP across the district.
The meeting was informed that awareness drives, farmer training sessions at the village level, and field surveys will be conducted to promote modern sowing techniques and evaluate crop progress.
Yield competitions and encouragement incentives for high-performing farmers have also been integrated into the strategy to improve per-acre yield compared to the average of the past three years.
The ADCR instructed all executing agencies to maintain close coordination and monitoring to achieve the set agricultural targets within the stipulated time-line.
