ISLAMABAD, Oct 12 (APP):The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday reserved its verdict on the federal government’s intra-court appeal against a single bench decision in a case concerning the status of intelligence reports in the appointment of trade and investment officers at Pakistani embassies abroad.
A division bench comprising Justice Khadim Soomro and Justice Umair Majid Malik reserved the verdict after hearing arguments from the parties.
During the hearing, counsel for the successful candidate, Kashif Malik, said there were no allegations against his client, adding that the proceedings appeared to have been initiated to favour another candidate.
Additional Attorney General Rashid Hafeez argued that even a candidate declared medically unfit would have their appointment cancelled.
He said the primary responsibility of trade and investment officers was to attract investment to Pakistan, adding that the
Establishment Division made appointments conditional on reports from intelligence agencies.
After hearing arguments from the lawyers, the court reserved its decision.
