Ten youth held as occupation forces tighten noose in South Kashmir

ISLAMABAD, Oct 12 (APP):Indian forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in Islamabad district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Indian army and police personnel launched the operation in the Seer Hamdan area of Mattan, in South Kashmir district.
In separate crackdown operations, Indian forces, including army and police personnel, arrested ten youth across the same district.
During a checkpoint operation, forces personnel arrested Mohammad Iqbal Dangroo at Lessu in Islamabad district. At Hatigam crossing, forces arrested Mushtaq Ahmad Butt.
In another operation near Krad Bridge, police arrested Muhammad Arif Magray, while Mohammad Ashraf Ganaie was arrested at the footbridge in Bumzoo, Mattan. Forces personnel also arrested Fayaz Ahmad Magray at a checkpoint in Bondialgam and Irshad Ahmad Ganaie at Shehlipora crossing in the district.
Police personnel arrested Feroze Ahmad Sofi in the Akingam area of Achabal and Aijaz Ahmad Lone in the Cheerpora area of Islamabad district.
Meanwhile, forces personnel arrested Mukhtar Ali and Dolal Ali, both residents of West Bengal, India, in the Arwani area of Islamabad district. Police said charas was recovered from their possession.
Police said all ten individuals had been arrested and investigations into the cases had been initiated. The arrest of Kashmiri youth on allegations of drug peddling is being used to justify detentions under draconian laws, perpetuating an atmosphere of fear, harassment and intimidation in the territory to suppress Kashmiris’ legitimate demand for the UN-pledged plebiscite.
