Police, CTD capacity to be enhanced to counter security challenges: Governor Kundi

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting regarding the security situation in the province, which was attended by senior civil and law enforcement officials.

PESHAWAR, Oct 11 (APP):Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi on Saturday chaired a high-level meeting regarding the security situation in the province, which was attended by senior civil and law enforcement officials.
The meeting was attended by Interior Adviser Kifayatullah Khan, Chief Secretary Dr Muhammad Fakhare Alam Irfan, Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hamid, Additional Chief Secretary Home Amjad Ali Khan, Additional IG Special Branch Muhammad Kashif Alam, Additional IG CTD, CCPO Dr Mian Saeed, Joint Director General Intelligence Bureau Arshad Ali Khan and other relevant officials.
The participants were briefed in detail about the overall security situation, counter-terrorism measures and the prevailing law and order situation in the province.
The meeting decided that educational institutions would remain closed today in view of the security situation. It was also decided that containers placed in Peshawar would be removed in phases within three days, while communication services would be partially restored as per requirements.
The meeting further decided to increase the police martyrs’ package and review police salaries. It was also decided that special attention would be given to the education and training of the families of police martyrs.
Speaking on the occasion, Governor Kundi expressed satisfaction that no untoward incident occurred during the prevailing circumstances.
He said elimination of terrorism was the top priority, adding that the capacity of police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) would be further enhanced to effectively deal with security challenges.
