World Mental Health Day: Rana Mashhood urges youth to seek support

ISLAMABAD, Oct 10 (APP):Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan on Saturday called for greater awareness of mental health challenges facing young people, urging efforts to eliminate stigma around seeking help and ensure safe, supportive spaces for youth to discuss their concerns on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.
In his message, Rana Mashhood said academic pressure, unemployment and societal expectations were among the challenges affecting young people’s mental well-being, making it essential to address their concerns with empathy and understanding.
“Seeking support is not weakness, it is strength,” he said, stressing the need to normalise seeking help and encourage young people to speak openly about their mental health.
He said the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme remained committed to youth well-being and urged young people seeking guidance and support to contact the National Youth Helpline at 0800-69457.
The chairman’s message underscored the importance of creating an environment in which young people could discuss mental health concerns without fear of stigma or judgement.
