Dr Tariq asks KP CM, PTI leaders, to explain performance to tribal people

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Saturday asked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to explain their performance to the people of the tribal districts.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 10 (APP):Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Saturday asked Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders to explain their performance to the people of the tribal districts.
In a post on X, he said protests in the name of peace would not solve the problems.
He said serious planning, strong institutions and practical steps were needed to address the challenges.
He said the tribal people had made great sacrifices and now wanted a secure future for their children. They should not be made to suffer for political interests, he added.
Despite PTI’s long rule in the province, many basic questions remained unanswered, the minister said.
He asked how much the police system had improved in the former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) since their merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He also questioned what steps had been taken to establish effective institutions to fight terrorism.
He asked whether the capacity of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) had been increased, more police stations had been established, and modern surveillance systems introduced.
He also questioned what had been done to create jobs for young people.
The minister said the tribal districts still lacked modern hospitals, higher education institutions and development projects.
He said the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were facing a serious law and order situation.
The sacrifices of police personnel and security forces, terrorist attacks and the difficulties faced by ordinary citizens required practical decisions beyond political differences, he added.
The Minister said people needed measures that improved their lives rather than slogans and rallies.
He said the people of the tribal areas were brave, dignified and patriotic, and should not have to wait any longer for their rights, education, jobs and basic facilities.
He said young people in the tribal districts had great potential and should be given opportunities to support their families and contribute to national development.
The minister said the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had worked on projects such as FATA University and four cadet colleges during its tenure.
He said the party would continue to prioritise higher education, model schools, modern healthcare facilities, sports centres and employment opportunities in the tribal districts.
“Our aim is to open new avenues of development in every district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, create business opportunities for young people, increase investment and bring the tribal areas further into the national development mainstream,” he said.
Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry said the federal and provincial governments would have to work together, ensure a fair distribution of resources and adopt effective strategies to achieve these goals.
He said PTI must understand that public support was measured by performance. If questions about peace, employment and basic facilities remained unanswered after years in power, the party should respond with facts and practical measures rather than accusations and political statements, he added.
“We stand with the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” the minister said.
He said the government wanted to eliminate terrorism, strengthen the police and law enforcement agencies, provide quality education to children and bring prosperity to every household.
“Let us rise above political differences and work together for peace, development and prosperity. A secure future for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is a guarantee of Pakistan’s strength,” he added.
