CMU discusses joint HIV/AIDS awareness strategy

The Common Management Unit (CMU) has held a coordination meeting with national and international partners to strengthen Pakistan’s response to HIV/AIDS through joint awareness initiatives and collaborative efforts.

ISLAMABAD, Oct 10 (APP):The Common Management Unit (CMU) has held a coordination meeting with national and international partners to strengthen Pakistan’s response to HIV/AIDS through joint awareness initiatives and collaborative efforts.
The meeting was convened in line with the commitment of the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination and the vision of the federal health minister for an HIV-free Pakistan.
Representatives from CMU, UNAIDS, UNFPA, UNDP, UNICEF, the Association of People Living with HIV (APLHIV) and the World Health Organization (WHO) participated in the meeting.
The participants discussed proposed activities for World AIDS Day, alignment of strategies among partner organizations and ways to strengthen collaboration in promoting public awareness about HIV/AIDS.
The meeting also focused on coordinated planning, stronger partnerships and joint initiatives to improve public understanding of HIV prevention, testing and care.
Participants underscored the importance of collective action and effective coordination among government institutions, international organizations and civil society to support a comprehensive national response to HIV/AIDS.
The initiative aims to strengthen awareness efforts and reinforce collaborative action towards Pakistan’s goal of an HIV-free future.
